Why do people have to be so judgemental?

So many people are judgemental over emos and goths before they even get to know and understand them.People think they are weird (or sometimes gay) just because they like to be expressive unlike the followers that just follow the new "fads".It isnt fair to those people because most of them are really nice people once you get to know them.I dont see why people cant just accept them for who they are.They are people just like you and me.God loves everybody including goths and emos.People believe that they are always depressed,only slit their wrists,and whine.People who judge them are the main reason they act like this in the first place.Alot of people I know make fun of how they cut themselves but I dont see why it matters to them anyway...the only reason they talk about it because it's something to talk about.They dont truly understand why these people do the things they do.I try and try so hard to stress it to people exactly how awesome they really are no matter what they do.

Why do people have to be so judgemental?
I wish I had the time, the energy and the space to disassemble your question line by line. Truth be known I don't and I won't. I'll leave that to others. I see a few have addressed some of you thoughts already. I will settle for addressing one sentence, the last one.





You say, "I try and try so hard to stress it to people exactly how awesome they really are no matter what they do.". I say, Jeffery Dahmer was an awesome guy, no matter what he may have done.





People work very hard to be different by copying other people who dress and act as weird as possible in order to shock me. It won't work, I have been from San Francisco during the hippie movement to the jungles of Vietnam to some of the hottest and coldest places in the world. I have seen thing most people couldn't understand and you want me to just love these ODD BALLS who are doing all they can possibly do to make my stomach turn. They can't do it, they will have to settle for distance because that is all the satisfaction they will get out of me.





I'll tell you what, you like them so much, you befriend them. I will leave them to either grow up, grow out of it or self destruct. BTW, if you really want to show your love buy them some clean razor blades.





And before you accuse me of ignorance let me tell you my youngest (an adult) hangs with and is into this EMO crap. I don't think she is cutting herself yet, but as I said earlier, it won't surprise me if she does.

Look, I know that most of the stereotypes of an "emo kid" are false, and I don't have any problem with them in general, but I wish they would at least be true to themselves. They are no more "independent" or "individual" than a prep or a jock.
