Why are people from Spanish Speaking Countries all grouped under the same race??

For Example, how people from The Dominican Republic,Argentina %26amp; Mexico are all grouped as the same race is beyond me.I Mean Argentina %26amp; Uraguay are like 95% Caucasian.Costa Rica %26amp; Chile have alot of White as well.My Spanish teacher was a Black man from Cuba %26amp; considered himself black. For Example Columbia %26amp; Venezuela are very Multi racial countries.Neighboring Guyana %26amp; Surimane have alot of Black %26amp; Asian People.Yes,they have alot of people of Indonesian %26amp; East Indain descend, even some chinese people. I mean look at El Salvador 98% is mixed with Spaniard %26amp; Native Blood. And why do people think that there can't be white Latins?? I've met Countless white Latins as well as black ones. Are you aware that the Us goverment created the term Hispanic?? Many people still do not know this.Just Look Latin people can be Any Race :Roberto Clemente,Alexis Biedel,Geraldo Rivera,,Sammy Sosa,Cameron Diaz,Don Omar, Luis Miguel And whydo people use term"Spanish People"do they mean people in Spain??

Why are people from Spanish Speaking Countries all grouped under the same race??
Well, that could be happening in USA, but it is clear you realize the true: language is not race.

It is like saying that all english speaking are anglos, it will include black southafricans, jamaicans, indians, asian migrants, etc.

British conquerors used to move with their families, they refused to mix with locals and were not interested in force the locals to speak english, although they use english only.

Spaniard conquerors moved only men, they had to take local women, therefore we are all mixed races, they punish the use of native languages or religions ("devil's things"), so the indigenuos in spanish colonies had (and have) spanish names, even they are asians (philipines), american natives, african (like in Guinea Ecuatorial, a spanish speaking country in Africa).

The most mexican indigenuos have spanish names (except for mayans, they still have mayan last names), even when they are not spanish speaking (neither spanish race people).

It is the same on philipines, and now they even speak english instead of spanish: philipines look like chineses, their names are spanish but they speak english (interesting facts about them, as well you can see many argentinias have italian names but speak spanish, or belgians have dutch names and speak french, it is a bizarre world.
Reply:yes i know what you mean. I guess it's peoples ignorance. some people just don't know the diffrence.
Reply:Who cares?
Reply:I don't know why people do it other than the fact it's an easier way to say it than get into blood lines.
Reply:Says who?

Races are not determined by the language they speak honey- race classifications are determined by skin color and biological traits such as face shape.

You might enjoy the link to the article above it explains the different racial classifications and not once does it mention the Spanish language or any language for that matter.
Reply:That is a very good question!!!!! Their is alto of colors in the Latin community !!! Like a beautiful rainbow of color
Reply:your filled with phobia, your world is not black and white
Reply:I think the answer to this question is - because for some weird, unexplained reason, people consider Spanish and Portugese speaking people OUTSIDE of Europe as their own separate race. It is very weird to me. There are white people, black people, asians, and then everyone of ANY race that speaks Spanish or Portugese are considered, "LATINO". Very strange because the word "latino" refers to the root of their language. Hmmmm, that's funny because the root of ENGLISH, FRENCH, ITALIAN, and GERMAN is Latin, so wouldn't ALL people of European descent be considered "Latin" or "Latino"?

And why are Mexicans always considered their own race? It is a 'COUNTRY' full of all kinds of races!
Reply:Look, we are all equals, I am from Monterrey, México, I am tall, white, redhair and green eyes... and? I am Mexican because I was born here, I learned about the values of the family, I growth honoring my flag... I speak spanish and I am proud of it...(I speak english too, as a second language).

Near Monterrey there is a lot of villages plenty of white and blonde people... blue eyes. If you visit Monterrey you will find that we are a mix....

But it is just that God does not make difference among people. We can coexist as equals browns, whites, small, talls, blacks....

The USA was formed by the 13 colonies.... colonies.... who devastated the american tribes... most of you are descendent of white immigrants from England.... or black slaves from Africa... You do not integrate the american tribes... your ancestors killed them... (it was not thay way in Canada, so you can find a lot of brown people in central Canada).

When the USA invaded México, while occupying my capital, some treasonous from the mexican congress proposed to Zachary Taylor to annex al the country to the USA... ¿do you know what he answered? : "I don´t want to have the blood of six million mexican indians on my hands".

That is why you have just a few indian reservations in the states.... (and even that they saved your forces in the 2nd world war with the navajo code).
Reply:People from Spanish speaking countries are largely grouped together racially because primarily, South America and Latin America were populated by Spaniards and Portuguese (less people realize this one). These two ethnic groups mixed in with the Indians from different areas and immigrants through the years; now you have the modern people.

The fact that many of these Latin people have light skin can be attributed to the fact that Spaniards have light skin (not at all like a Mexican's), and that some Indian tribes were reportedly Caucasian.

If I were you, I wouldn't be concerned that these people are grouped under "Spanish", this is their heritage. While "Latin" people is more correct, I don't think it should be that big of a deal.
Reply:I guess it's out of ignorance. I think the term "Spanish people" is kind of a catch all term used to describe anyone who speaks Spanish or is from a Spanish speaking country. But you're right though...there is a wide variety of cultures and ethnicities represented in the countries you mentioned. My husband (who is Mexican) gets very frustrated (rightfully so) when people assume that his culture is the same as every other culture in predominantly Spanish-speaking countries. Like I said, I think it just stems from ignorance.
Reply:much ado about nothing

Asians, Africans and Europeans get the same deal... you can't say that these are similar: Japanese/Cambodian, South African/Egyptian, Dutch/Croat

heck, Americans have great variance too: New Englanders, Mid-westerners, southerners, Texans, Californians
Reply:There not, people like you just think they are.
Reply:i totally agree with you

it's like they mix all the cultures into one term

which doesn't even make sense

maybe they did that

because they're ignorant
Reply:I agree with you. Besides, "hispanic" is not even a race...

It all has to do with ignorance. I am from Spain, and in the United States I am associated with Mexicans or any other Southamerican country, and just because I say I am from Spain. I wonder if they know that Spain is in Europe... What is funny is that "Unitedstatians" do not consider French or Italians mexican, even though we all Spaniards, French and Italians come from the same roots, the latin.

To "dont be a retarded" below: Latins is not the way to describe them. They are americans, period. There are many countries in South America that do not speak a latin rooted lenguage.... Now if you want to define their race... thats another story. Anyway, you cannot group them in one race, as already mentioned, there are various and also mixed ones.

To the one below that says: "who cares?" May be if you cared you wouldnt look as ridiculous as many of your compatriots that are famous around the world for being ignorants... You dont want to give such an image of your country, do you? (I assume you are from the US of A.. I know Im right... see the way people think of you??)
Reply:Probably because of the same mistake many make when people assume America is white, european, English speakers. Anglos go home when America is all races from all over the globe.
Reply:WHAT?
