Fat people placed in their own groups?

Do you think that over weight-fat people should be placed in their own "group" since 99% of over weight people are discriminated against and put through hate crimes and get rude remarks/ treated as 'Not Normal, Not Human, A waste of space."

Do you agree that fat people are discriminated against and are victums of hate more then gays, lesbiens, bi's, trangendereds, blacks, whites, reliogous and the handycap?

How many times in your life have you heard people making fun of a fat person? How many times have you made rude comments or put downs towards fat people?

Do you think you are BETTER then fat people? Do you think LESS of fat people? When will fat people have to no longer take the abuse they go through everyday? Would you HELP them fight for their rights as a human and to be treated equally?

Fat people placed in their own groups?
I feel your pain , but I think you are over stating the problem . Did Hitler send the obese to the gas chambers ? Were oversized people lynched in the early 20th century ?
Reply:I do agree that fat people are sometimes discriminated against but no more so than any body else who looks a little different. I have had to wear glasses since I was 2 1/2 years old and school children can be extremely cruel to the little guy with glasses. Since then I have served with the British Parachute Regiment, the worlds finest. I am trained in certain martial arts, I have earned a six figure salary, English money and I retired with my blue eyed, blonde wife to a foreign country 11 years ago when I was 51. Who had the last laugh.? No body fought for my rights but I did okay. Why do so many people want others to do it for them? I am probably the least aggressive person you could meet but I got there on my own.
Reply:Nobody should be placed in groups. But most people are because we live in a "very" judgmental world. Some people choose to catagorize others instead of seeing that person for who they are and not what they look like. I blame the media and magazines for portraying the perfect girl as an anorexic pale crackhead looking thing. Being overweight isn't healthy but neither is that. Everyone is judged by there appearance, whether their too fat, too skinny, too white, too black, too short or too tall etc..., nobody's safe from judgmental people. All we can do is grin and bear it and love yourself for who you are and not let insecure people get to you.
Reply:99%? That is absurd. There is no way that overweight individuals are more prone to "hate crimes" than homosexuals. Overweight people can still get married, can they not??

I understand that genetics play a role in fat disposition; however, they are not the only factor when it comes to being overweight. One's diet and exercise regime also play huge roles, and yet they're often overlooked in favor of genetics. I'm not going to say that everyone who's overweight is that way due to lazyness, but I will say that no one is forced to be overweight -- as long as they work hard. I have little respect for anyone, skinny or fat, who mistreats their body with an absense of exercise and an abundance of garbage in their diet.

Is this an NAAFA member asking this question? Now that is one group I'm completely against. It's one thing to help individuals feel happy with who they are, but this group has done nothing but further increase the distance between overweight people and other individuals. Happy or not, being 250+ pounds is not healthy, and simply accepting that is by no means a great idea.
Reply:Well spoken, and I agree with you, and I blame the Hollywood hypocrites, the media monsters, lying liberal lawyers, and our own stinking corruptament for this nation wide assault on the larger members of our so-called society, and the bottom line is that it's NOBODIES GOSH DARN BUSINESS regarding personal choices of our fellow human beings, and only gullible morons buy into the propaganda that blames fat people for the increase in health costs, the fact being that as long as a person works, thus pays fully or partially for his/hers health benefits then they're entitled to use them just like the rest of us regardless of their race, size, age, married, single, gay, hederosexual, kids, male, or female...
Reply:I'd like to see that statistics showing 99%% of fat people are discriminated against.
Reply:No..I have NEVER made a remark or even thought it about overweight people.

And- I would fight for anyone to have equal rights...and against anyone believing they are better than anyone else.
Reply:Fat people are discriminated against. I come from a fat family. Because of diabetes I am quite thin. I have seen them all diet and use prescriptions to loose weight. I myself do not mind 'fat' people. what i do not like is when they sit there and gripe about being fat and yet they eat the big mac and large fries but drink it with a diet coke. Like the diet coke will make up for all the calories in the big mac. if you complain about it fix it!

I have met 'fat' people who ate big and beautifully and do not care what other people think. they are comfortable with who they are. they are wonder full. i would rather hang with them instead of the skinny minnies who say they are fat and diet, starve, purge..... themselves sick.

Because of my diabetes I am always on a diet. I get people who think i am one of those skinnies who are to sensitive. I also get people who try to fatten me up. No Thank You! people should not nose on others diets. yes! i can have that snickers candy bar but i take insulin.

Hurray for fat people who love themselves!
Reply:According to a study done in the work place fat people aren't hired as often as thin people due to discrimination. I've heard it from my own peers when discussing someone in our own work place that has a weight problem. It's just so rude and frankly I'm sure they feel superior. Other research has suggested that a simple viral microbe results in gaining an excess amount of weight. Shame on you thin people.
Reply:Fat, your word, not mine, people are very abused all the way around. It is extremely unfair and upsetting. I am one of those people who has to eat to even maintain my weight and am under weight, and believe me I am not bragging. It is the opposite problem, and it IS a problem......really. In my familly it is really weird cause I have some relatives who are very obese and yet, they eat much less than I do. It is not their fault that they are over weight, it is not my fault I am under weight.....we don't always get to choose.

They are healthy and have no high cholesterol or anything like that, and more importantly, they are happy. They are the most comfotable people in their own skin, if you will, than any other people I know........It is certainly a problem when over weight people are discriminated against, I don't understand why. My final note would be simply this, any discirimination is wrong and I have tons of always dieting skinny friends and have some over weight friends and not to offend the skinnys out there, but my over weight friends are over all happier and more fun to be around.....really, the dieters are so incredibly self absorbed........JMO
Reply:That's a pretty invovled question. No, I don't believe that "fat" people should be placed in their own group. It only segregates them more and makes them appear even more "different" than everybody else. I don't think they are discriminated against more than gays, lesbiens etc, but I think the discrimination is certainly there, and I think it's pretty hurtful.

I would be lying if I said that I've never made fun of someone overweight, but then I've made fun of all kinds of people in my lifetime. Not that I'm proud of it. That being said, I don't think i'm better or think less of overweight people. What I do think is that seriously overweight individuals are slowly killing themselves. It's no better than smoking ciggerettes or doing drugs. They are harming the body they were given, and I think that's wrong. I know some people have disorders, and that's fine, but the majority don't. Why don't they love themselves and respect themselves enough to want to take care of themselves? I'm not saying everybody has to be super thin, but simply healthy. So, no I don't feel bad if an overweight individual has to pay for 2 seats on a plane because they are too big; that's their own doing. But that doesn't make me think I'm better or smarter or anything of the sort. NOBODY deserves to be treated badly and rudely because of how they look.
