Why do people stereotype ALL cheerleaders as negative people?

Seriously, I do not understand why people say appalling things about cheerleaders in general. I’ve experienced it personally, I’ve seen it happen to other people, and I even looked it up on yahoo answers; most people who answer ?’s having anything to do with cheerleaders, they make a negative comment. Even in the media, they are advertised as ill-mannered girls who just are superior to everyone else, which is absolutely not true. There are cheerleaders who are really sweet and sincere, and yet people who know nothing about them, criticize them for being HAPPY or if they make a rude remark, their automatically bitches. EVERYBODY gets mad and does rude things. All people who take interest in this activity are not arrogant ********* e s and whatever other derogatory terms use toward them, they are people to. We cry, we eat, we get mad, and do normal things just like the other 6 billion people in this world. We are all people here; just help me understand why they are so bad.

Why do people stereotype ALL cheerleaders as negative people?
yea hun i understand your pain.. im a cheerleader to0 but im also number 8 in my class and am very successfull in other sports. Im not a ***** to you unless your a ***** to me and if your nice to me i'll be nice to you. Im also not a slut, i dont date from guy to guy, and am a virgin. I dont think it's fair when people say stuff like that but just dust it of, tell them to grow up, and stop carring what others think about you b/c once your out of highschool, you'll probably never see 99% of thoes people again.
Reply:"cheerleaders get the hottest boyfriends".

that's a quote from a friend of my daughter's the other day... as if... it doesn't matter what you've got going for you in life, or what kind of person you are... if you're a cheerleader, you've got the hottest boyfriend, supposedly...

both the goal... and the means chosen to get it... to me are shallow, contrived, and pathetic.
Reply:Because they judge everyone, and talk about everyone, being a cheerleader you know it's true
Reply:I had no image about them.
Reply:Negative... not really... snobby, slutty, and ditzy... very true... don't ask me... i've never been with any cheerleaders...
Reply:Sounds like you have your answer already. We humans have tenancies that we like to transfer onto others. Some people are jealous of cheerleaders(popularity, perceived security, etc) what they fail to notice is the late hours practicing, fund raising, organizing events, and carrying the banner of team spirit for the entire school. The people on the various teams(sports,cheerleaders,debate,spellin... bring a lot to the school/college experience. They were/are cherished classmates. You can choose to be positive.Offer or start a program. Call it cheerleaders a day in the life. It would be a great opportunity for a fundraiser. From and ex jock/student government representative, Peace.
Reply:I think it's human nature, unfortunately. Sure, a lot of cheerleaders a stuck-up and all that, but so are a lot of people who aren't cheerleaders. I think the media has a lot to do with it - they always portray cheerleaders in a negative light.
Reply:Movies.
