"real" people?

Im skinny, I have a nice body and I am NORMAL

i feel like our society has like a fear of good lookin skinny muscle toned people . like everytime someone says this is what a real person looks like, the person is usually slightly fat. but they say those good lookin skinny people in magazines aren't normal, but I disagree greatly with that, yeah the people in real life may not be as good lookin but ALOT of people in my school and all of my friends look just as good as someone in a magazine.or the slim fast new slogan " we believe in hips not hip bones" that is wrong! I believe in hips AND hip bones!is like they are descriminatin skinny people.or in my health class there is a poster where they show "real" girls and they are all ugly and kinda fat but when I look around in my class 90% of the girls are atheltic, skinny and good lookin. what do you think? tired of oursociety feeling sorry for all these fat people and callin them "real" people. not sayin this against fat people so fats dont hate

"real" people?
I think that when you look at society there are tons of people nowdays who are considered "real" when in fact they are overweight. I don't think there is any reason to justify being overweight, but I do feel that, given the picture-perfect bodies that we see on tv and read about in magazines it's alright to let people know that just because they don't look as perfect as a celebrity doesn't mean they're not attractive. There's a delicate balance there. I'm like you, thin and considered attractive but does that mean I'm more "real" than my mother, who has given birth to 5 kids? She does all she can to make herself look her best, as do I, but is it fair to say that I'm more real than her just cause I'm sixteen and 105 lbs? I think that as long as you do your best to keep yourself in shape by eating healthy and exercising it doesn't really matter how you look.
Reply:Did you know that all those thin and muscle-toned people won't live too long?

Studies have been conducted and it has been determined that the longest-living and healthiest people are the slightly plump ones, those "real" people you keep mentioning. And with all your talk about too thin people, well, what about respecting too fat people, hmmm? Your idea of fat has been skewed by media influences in this century...have you ever seen Renaissance paintings of the ideal female form? Those are the ones that will live the longest...and guess what? If you're just naturally thin, oh well, too bad, you're not perfect. If you're trying to diet and stay thinner than necessary...say hello to an eating disorder center.
Reply:Defined, low bodyfat, skinny people are not healthy. The body requires fat as an energy source inbetween meals. If you dont have enough fat in your system you consume natural fluids, organs and muscle tissue. Healthy is not aesthetically good, healthy doesnt require sacrfice, its about mental well being also no one should be forced to watch what they eat all there lives that is not how we are designed.
Reply:I don't know what your idea of fat and skinny is.

You also have to realise that people come in all different shapes and sizes, not just skinny or fat. And just because you have a certain idea of fat, just remember it might not be everyone elses opinion and the same goes for skinny.

Being overfat means having high body fat levels and what is interesting is you can look skinny or fat and still have high body fat. Unless someone is clearly overfat, then you can't tell just be looking at someone. Please remember this.

HTH : )
Reply:Hmm.....interesting question.....

I'm skinny as well, very underweight, and at risk of an eating disorder.

Anyways, they entire population is becoming obese so they don't know how to embrace the skinnies all over again. I guess to them since fat people are all around they consider them "real". Oh, and for the skinny people maybe people think they're anorexic, bulimic, or something because they're so skinny so they refer to them as not being "real". Two different options here.
Reply:Wait a few years after you graduate high school and see how many of those people still look the same. You'll be surprised.

Besides the high school population isn't representative of the population as a whole.
