Why can only people African Americans speak-out about discrimination?

A friend of mine was trying to have a converson about the problems with discrimination amoung people, and it turned into a huge screaming match because she made the point that many people are discriminated against. The American Indian People, Jewish People, Fat People, Ugly People, Polish People, Irish People, Dumb People and the list gos on and on. Well she said that it seemed to her that the only people who get offended enough to start riots and kill other people over it is the African American people.Well lo- and- behold if that coment didn't cause the African American she was talking to to completly loose it and want to "as she put it " BEAT my friend "down" So I would like to know no other race is aloud to speak about any other discriminations except the ones against African Americans?

Well, why did she say 'only' African American people' etc etc? I mean, seriously, that's not even true. People of many cultural backgrounds do all of the things she was talking about and more, for all sorts of reasons.





That's like saying 'why do ONLY white people ask dumb racist questions on Y!A?'. It's a good sound bite, but it just isn't true!





There are ways to ask a question so the people you are speaking to don't feel put down. Or, when the people she was speaking with became offended, she could have explained that she phrased the question incorrectly and asked in a different way.





Why provoke people if you don't want them to respond?





Unless of, course, she just wants to feed her own prejudices by whining about how people always take what she says the wrong way when really she's such a caring non-bigotted person who just has the bad habit of saying things that upset and offend ~ all quite unintentional, of course!?!
