Why do people think black people don't work hard?

Yes, I have been skulking around again and saw some questions and answers about black people. It seems that people think that black people don't work as hard as other people and get everything handed to them by others. Affirmative action is brought up a lot, but affirmative action is not just black people, but minorities in general, and women, who have it harder in this country to be truthful. I work my but off so I can go to school and get an even better job or even start my own business so I won't have to depend on someone else to make a living. When I see people posting on here that black people don't have to work as hard, I think they could'nt be more wrong. So why do people think this?

Why do people think black people don't work hard?
Hey!! I am black. Live in the west indies where blacks are 90% Worked hard all my life. Now retired with three beautiful educated children. Happy in my own home living off the investments of my hard earned cash. Travel once a year. Dress well. I encounter racism all the time and just shrug it off. So to all you ignorant black haters who wish they were in my shoe. Swallow this and choke on it
Reply:Who cares what they think. They aren't black so who cares.
Reply:i dont no :(
Reply:beacuse they dont jajajajjajaja
Reply:It is simply a racial steotype. Probably caused by years of stupid white guys in stiff suits trying to put other people "in their place" so to speak.
Reply:when people say things like that, you shouldnt let it bother you. we know it is not true, and makes the ones that stereotype that way look ignorant.
Reply:because people are ignorant and they tend to said what they don't know. it a racist remark . those that said that are uneducated and just plain stupid.
Reply:Well, it's a stereotype. They think that because of the ones that are on welfare and milking the system because they think that they are owed something, which is a completely different argument right there. The reason that they don't pay attention to the fact that there are people of every race that want things handed to them is because they were raised to only see the faults of other races and never their own race. It's sad really. I just dislike lame people, regardless of their race. Some people find it necessary to come on here and say it because they have the protection of hiding behind a computer screen like the cowards that they are. The majority of them would never say that to a black persons face.
Reply:Black people work as hard if not HARDER than anyone else. The problem is, in "white" America most other races are simply just NOT GIVEN the chance to prove themselves and even when they do, they are "suspect." Like, okay, what are they "trying to prove."

As far as affirmative action goes, it should be use more and more often and not less and less. Anyone who thinks America is a nation of "equals" has their head in the sand.
Reply:People think stereotypical things because in their minds that how it really is. When you are taught something or believe something it is hard to see it any other way. The best part about it is that people can think what they want because the only person that defines you, is YOU! I am African American and I know how hard my family works and proud of who we are.

People will always have their opinions of others and that is everyones right, but the best way to look at is like Madea says....It's not what they call you, it's what you answer to. So let people think and say what they will, at the end of the day you know who you are!
Reply:Easy answer. 3 words - 1) Stereotype 2) Prejudice 3) Ignorance.
Reply:Some blacks work hard...just like some whites...however most people, no matter what colour they are, don't work too hard.
Reply:that would fall into the same category as white people have no rhythm, unfounded, true for some
Reply:It's probably a misconception brought about by bigotry and ignorance and laziness (intellectual) too most likely.

I do not have any data to back up what I am saying, but if someone really care *that* much....then let *them* look it up to counter my comments.

I'd say that it is dependent on the local ratio of black people to 'other races'; white, Hispanic, etc. If there is a higher population of black people to other races, then by default you'd probably see more 'lazy' black people than you might otherwise just because there are more around. People are lazy in general. People do not work as hard as they use to. Black, white, red, yellow, whatever. If you live in a town and you are, say, the only Hispanic person, and there are 100 black folks, and you see 30 sitting around being lazy then you'd say......'wow, ~30% of the people in this town don't do a darn thing!'. You might then just decide in your mind that black people are lazy in general, when, in fact, that may not necessarily be true.

Only the Lord knows the answers to questions like this miss. Bigotry and unfairness will pervade our life forever....unfortunately.

I once had a boss that would go around and say: "Ignorance is gonna rule the world". He was probably right.

Be well, and be the best person YOU can be.
Reply:Most people don't think that. I can't answer for the narrow minded ones who do.
Reply:Stop asking racially motivated questions move on with your life the slave days are over
Reply:Forget those people, they are comfortable believing we are lazy. We are powerful, and hard workers. They are living off of the cream of Daddy's milk. So forget them. I am a big Essence Mag fan because every month, they showcase black men and women who have started up their own companies, and work very hard as educators, musicians, Engineers, writers, business owners, and there are so many of them I can't count. If the people would stop reading KKK Times mag they will see hard working black people in action. So. There.
Reply:I don't think that. I think there are just more black families that are poor (unfortunately - but things are improving), and when you are poor, you don't have as many opportunities and as much guidance as people who come from middle/upper class families.
Reply:***think back black people didi the hard work, they think that because they dont want to admit that some people work harder than them.***
Reply:hon, I don't think that, so not everyone feels that way. There are many stupid people in the world, both white and black. Do you really care what any of these idiots think? Well, neither do I.
Reply:You work your (but) off? I don't see how that is possible as no one has a (but)
Reply:Many black people work very hard indeed! But many of them who are working in the public sector (fast food restaurants, the postal service, etc.) have very poor attitudes towards the customers and seem to take delight in being surly and rude.
Reply:because most ppl just focus on one group n da black community and dats young black teenagers who dont give a f*** and just because they see lik a lil group of teenagers actin a fool and assume every black person is lik dat. sometimes other ppl in diff. ethnic group think they kno about us but they dont even get da chance 2 kno us so they come up with stuff lik from wat they have seen n movies or on da street.
Reply:Here is an example of great hardworking African American woman, Condoleezza Rice.

She works really hard and she is our Secretary of State.
Reply:It is a shame that this prejudice exists. You have to work twice as hard to get half the recognition or success. It is good to accept help if in the future you intend to give it back five-fold!
Reply:i'm not black but people can be stupid. it's probably because they don't work hard. i know several black people who work very hard.
Reply:I am white European and I don't think that at all. Probably white people are more lazy, there are a lot of racist comments posted on here and all of them seem to be from Americans. Just be proud of who you are, you are always better than people who criticise others.
Reply:Ignorance!
Reply:Did u really had to put that question there?
Reply:I Dont No
Reply:I think the same about black people, but only about black males.
