Some People Focus On America's Best Points , Others Look For Negative . . . Which Group Is Better Company ?

Sometimes, no matter how good the news is, some people are so negative that their negative attitude won't let them be happy . Not a day goes by where these people don't relish in whatever bad they can find . These are the same people who are willing to go back a hundred years or more to find anything that would damper current American pride and success.

While others truly Love our country and really enjoy spreading the good news . These are the people who truly appreciate living in the greatest country of the world .

This is also why people in the second group often call people in the first group , Unpatriotic .

I tend to agree because by it's very definition, Patriotism implies Positive , not negative .

Which Group Of People Make Better Company ?

Some People Focus On America's Best Points , Others Look For Negative . . . Which Group Is Better Company ?
The positive people are definitely the ones I want to be around. I don't care to spend any of my time being depressed by what could be. Even though there are lots of negative things going on, that isn't outweighed by living in the greatest country in the world. I still have my freedoms and am incredibly grateful for that.

Come to think of it, I think there are a lot of negative people that seem to live in a bubble and perhaps due to lack of exposure aren't aware of just how good we have it in this country.

**edit**

Oops, I deleted my last paragraph.

All that said, I don't think the negative can be ignored entirely. The best way to rid the negative is to turn it into a positive.

**one more edit**

I CANNOT stand Americans that have nothing nice to say about our govt. Sure they've screwed lots of things up but they've also done good. I can't think of one single govt out there that hasn't screwed something up or allowed something tragic to happen to someone else. Oh how I could go on and on right now, but I won't. And not everything that is wrong with our country is the govt's fault. I think Political correctness is a nasty disease that needs a cure.
Reply:I like realistic optimists. Can you tell me which group is which,in your opinion?
Reply:If your a optimist then the glass is half full, likewise if your a pessimist then the glass is half empty. To each their own.

Swoosh 2 points!
Reply:I prefer the company of realists. :)
Reply:you take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the facts of life. I loved that show:-)

some people think we have to be optimistic all the time and others seem to think we must more pessimistic or we will get taken advantage of. I do not agree. one must be a realistic to ever truly be optimistic or to be justified when seeming to be pessimistic.

I understand that as a country we haven't always been right and have made great mistakes but the good that we have done out weighs the bad. I will be 41 in a few months and I am, and have been all of my life proud of this land that I call home the United States of America. with all her imperfections and sorted history she is still the Greatest Nation under God.
Reply:I prefer to be around optimists.

I am a pessimist myself and don't need help coming up with doomsday scenarios.
Reply:Patriotism in neither optimistic or pessimistic, by definition it is love. People who love something wish to see it grow, and that means seeing it for what it is, and allowing it to grow.

Thomas Jefferson once said that Dissent is the highest form of Patriotism.

Living in reality and looking at what is there, not what you wish was there is patriotic. Whether what is there is positive or negative, you are not a patriot if you chose to ignore what exists. To love a county - as patriotism implies - means to hold it to a high standard and to wish to see it grow. If a person simply looks for negatives at the point of vitriol, lacking a motive to improve a negative point that person is not a patriot. Likewise if a person chooses to live in a self-induced mental fog, because it would involve seeing things they don't want to see or accepting things they don't want to accept that person despises their country. Truth is beauty and beauty is truth.
Reply:Neither. They're both irritating and delusional.
Reply:As a single tear runs down my cheek......give me a break preacher....There's a difference between optimism and blowing smoke up people's a**es.....and the people in your second group call the people in the first group unpatriotic because they(unlike most beople with a brain) cannot seperate their "country" from their "government". This IS the greatest country in the world...but if you can't acknowledge that our government is responsible for some pretty silly, and awful things, and should be held accountable for it...that's not being patriotic, it's being ignorant.

Oh...to answer your rant posing as a question....the negative people make better company....they're more fun at parties.
