Why do people say you are jealous if you criticize SOME rich people?

I was absolutely shocked when I heard somebody spent $2.7 million on a hat! There are people who are living in poverty and you spend that much on a hat! I believe it is morally right for wealthy people to help the less fortunate. There are rich people who worked hard for their money some didn't. Either way for you to live in mansion, have 5 cars, swimming pool, etc and not care about anyone else is just wrong. You can't spend all that money so why not help people. Some of you think that it is people's fault that they are poor. Poverty can happen to nearly anybody. You can get laid off, get sick, have death in the family, have someone abandon you,etc. I know there are some lazy people but there are some hardworking people who just fell on hard times. Also there are people who moved up from poverty but while they were poor they needed help. Read about the inspirational stories about Liz Murray and Chris Gardner. I'm not jealous I am satisfied with my life I just think the top 1% ...

Why do people say you are jealous if you criticize SOME rich people?
I agree that this is a rediculous amount to spend on a hat and yes there are people who are living without while that person wears that hat. Sad to say too true.





First we do not live in a communist country where a Dr, Lawyer, grocery clerk make the same money - a loaf of bread a day, bad toilet paper, and no personal freedoms of speech or anything we enjoy in the USA.





We do not live in a socialist country (but it is coming close the more the Gov gets involved in our personal lives) where the Government takes 65% of your pay to cover all it's expenses in the name of taking care of you because you cant and they will tell you what TV to watch, what cereal to buy and what the news of the day is. Yes they do that.





These people who have lots of $$ have power and make personal choices on what they will do. This is the same as you are doing but you and I are on a much smaller scale. Even if I had 2.7 million I would not spend it on a hat or even a huge mansion, I would set up a foundation to help others but that is me.





People are interesting creatures and people who live in the world of the Hiltons, Spears, Trumphs, Winfreys and such live in a world far removed from what you and I understand as reality. They don't fret because the car won't start and they will be late for work because they have more than one car and someone to drive it. Someone else does the shopping. Some think about philanthropy like Opra doing her school in Africa but that money is a drop in the bucket compaired to what she does have and that she is spending on buying a new TV station. She probabily made tons of money off the publicity for the African School too.





So while I don't see you as being truly jealous but you are being critical and that is ok in my eyes. You are entitled to your opinon. We all must make value judgements on what we approve of or disapprove of; how we will act or not act. Do you have a right to tell others with or without money how they should spend their money or live their live in a country of free choice? - not really, unless asked.
Reply:Oh, stupid people aspire to have things and have money because that is all they can imagine that makes people happy. Squat on them. MANY rich people not only are miserable but make others miserable just because they are. You don't have to wait for a 2.7M dollar hat to criticize.

Think about why you are criticising something before you do it, and you'll find that you can learn from the things you criticise.

It reminds me of a story I once hear about when Robin Williams was asked to perform before European royalty. At one point he went up to a woman who was wearing a huge diamond broach and said "Wow. look at that. You could wear that or feed the world."

Bill Gates is with the help of others spending millions to eradicate HIV in Africa.there are many more like him who got rich by being smart and working hard that give millions.


Judgemental people like you never have all the facts.
