People always seem to think biracial people are better than single raced people, why?

I'm Latino. But I have friends who are mixed, one who is Korean/White, Korean/Black, Puerto Rican/Asian, Black/Persian, Guatemalan/White, Indian/Chinese and a few other mixes.





And no matter what when I describe my mixed friends to other friends (while showing my pictures, people ask questions) they are amazed like being biracial is something special.





I love my friends and they are special, but not because they are biracial, because they are great people.





People also assume all biracial people are gorgeous, all of my friends are gorgeous but I've seen some ugly mixed race people.





I'm just worried about falling in love with someone from another race b/c don't want my kids growing up getting way too much attention for being biracial. I don't want people constantly asking them what race they are or telling them they are pretty BECAUSE they are mixed, like single race people arent pretty!





Why is our culture obsessed with biracial people, at least in my experience they are.

Reply:Funny I've never gotten that and I'm mixed, if anything most ppl I've met are rude about it or act like they feel sorry for me.
Reply:I personally think that biracial people are interesting because it is nice to see what happens when two races get together and produce offspring. It is just different and interesting to sort out that person's heritage.
Reply:Well it's because these people are obviously half white.
Reply:I could give a care about mixed ethnicity folks, theyre just like everybody else, most several generation US people have more than one ethnicity in them anyway it's not a big deal.

Nobody thinks that mixed race people are intrinsically "better" somehow.
Reply:Well I am Thai, Austrian, English mix and I will admit that I am pretty damn sexy, but no I am not better then anyone else. Actually I am just a regular guy who likes baseball a lot.
Reply:I think that people just view byracial kids as interesting and more unique than the average one race person. They may find their features or life different, interesting and intringing to learn about or experience.





It is rare for some people to see a person who possesses a culture and life of two worlds. anything rare and interesting will gain attention. It is a nice production of what can happen when two worlds come together delicately.
Reply:A lot of people are crazy over biracial people. Even they sometimes they could actually believe they have "the best of both worlds" when often times they are not accepted in either. Some biracials are ok but others when I meet them the first thing they say is "hi I'm Brian and I'm in half black, chinese, white, ect" like I really care about that.
