Same reason we say a man is a man and a woman is a woman.

But I guess YOU would ask: "but some women's breasts are smaller than others!" or "but some men's voices are screechier and more annoying the others!".

Well.... I wonder. Deep philosophical question there my friend. NEXT!
Reply:what is the meaning of life?

2. I do not mind being called "black"

3.What is your point?
Reply:The same reason why Chris Columbus called Native Americans "Indians". Some idiot took it upon himself to place incorrect names on the different cultures.

Reply:Wow... I hope you dont get anything for your birthday...
Reply:nuh get more if u want the funnest 16th birfdai eva XD
Reply:i guess thats enough, but youre really a brat! you shouldnt not invite people because theyre fat, ugly, poor, or smarter than you! you should really think about other people and not be so self absorbed, theres many more important things in life than a stupid party and i bet that if you got a chance to know ahlf the people you just ruled out, your party would be alot more fun. you seem like a spoiled snob and i hope that no one comes to your party.
Reply:Wow. Why would you post something like this on here? 'Ugly people', 'people from special ed' %26amp; 'people who made honor roll'. Who do you think you are? Stop being so judgmental, get off the internet, and go play with your three friends. %26amp; you took all that time to write out all the people who you aren't going to invite to find out we don't even care. Kbye.
Reply:No wonder you only have three friends.
Reply:Are you really that shallow or is this a joke?
Reply:Sure. I hope you have a great time. But you could be a little less judge-y. Ever heard the expression "Don't judge a book by it's cover"?
Reply:Invite whoever you like.

Personally I think your 'wont invite list' is, for lack of a better word, retarded. What do you have against gays? More importantly, what do you have against most of the stereotyped groups on your so called list?
Reply:around 100 ppl? That's pretty good. But if you want more than make a few exceptions to the people on the "not invited" list. Because the more the merrier.
Reply:DAMN!! I can tell that ur a ***** from what you just wrote! Gosh!! If i were u i would reconsider that list! u cant judge people like that! and no that is not enough because u seem like u have a very small heart so very little friends! I have atleast one friend from every list u just wrote! And you know what Im like disqusted by u! the best sweet 16 wud be if u invitted all of those! but who am i to tell u? i bet u wont even understand this! **** and oh ya i totally agree with Vylaska and bluedolfinswimmer13 and JENNNY and guess what else? u just ruined my day! and ur name suits u! bratbrattie!!! stupid *****
Reply:Well to my birthday, im gonna lable one group i dont want to invite, and thats SHALLOW people, oh wow thier is only one person on that list. You should feel so greatful you made the SHALLOW list, your parents must be so proud.
Reply:you know i think that's really snobby because i have the high honor roll and im not that skinny but im rich and pretty and im am sooo not a goody goody 2 shoes and a lot of people invite me to there party a lot.
Reply:your inviting people because of their appearances? what's your problem?none of the football team are ughly, poor, gay, fat....?you dont even deserve a sweet sixteen. you sound like a mean perso who are afraid of what people think. you might not be fat but your ego is.
Reply:yeah thats enough people but you sound like a stuck up ******
Reply:you dont need to such a judge of people. how would you like it if someone called you a prep? you wouldn't like it at all.
Reply:you are the kind of person that made me cry everyday after school you are going to be one of those people who grows up to realize you have no real friends just people you've alienated over the years so yes for you 70 fake evil people is enough

Why don't people like hearing the truth? Are the media's lies more interesting than the truth?

Hi people.I'm Iranian and I live in Iran. When I chat with people from other countries, I understand that they have totally wrong ideas about Iran.I just wrote this article to correct you.

The first thing they accuse our government of, is that they don't let you be free.Actually, Iranians would be some of the most free people in the world, since thousands of millions of strict rules in other countries, don't even excist in Iran. Our goverment tried to not to let western cultures influence ours, by prohibiting videos and sattelites, but in Iran every single house has one, so the government's agreed with having them.Currently, they don't provide high-speed internet, cos they think people may watch sextual and immoral films on the internet, however the highest speed in Iran at present is 128 k, but they're now thinking of providing 500 k speed.I know whatever our government says is for our own good. You know why? Let me give you an example:I suppose kissing in public is not forbiddon where you live, cos it's a part of your culture. But doing the same thing here is offensive. It's not that it's bad or something. You need to act according to your culture.People who don't, and have unreasonable behaviour that is considered immoral behaviour, are considered hooligans. Sattelite channels had a serious influence on people, now the way they wear clothes sounds like western countries, only there's scarves that don't don't seem to be worn because we're Muslems.People wear fashionable scarves to make themselves more attractive and most part of they hair is out. They do whatever they wish to, and some of the things they do, don't fit our culture at all, however it's now slighty normal in Iran, since people seem to have got used to such acts and behavioures. Most of the rules that seem not to be reasonable are abolished almost afer 1-2 years, because people really don't obey them.Whether those rules exist or not Iranians do whatever they wish to! You really need to pay a visit to Iran and you'll be surprised seeing that what you imagined before and how the real Iran is! It's wonderful, believe me.People, the Iran you knew, is related to at least 20 years ago, and now everything's so great.

Some people think music is forbidden in Iran, but did you know that Iranian pop music has won the nobel prize in France?Iran's full of music nd they're all current pop music. The best you've ever heard, and in case you're curious to hear some, e-mail me and I'll send you some.

Oh, and some people think women don't have any rights in Iran! What would you tell me if I tell you that women are now overtaking Iran? They're treated very well, most of the times they're the winners in most cases: They get into the best universities, they get the best jobs, they've got rights that have made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands seem to be under control of women and they have to buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women will have the right to divorce them, and then the husband'll have to pay them a great amount of money which most husbands cannot afford paying that amount of money! (so they can simply sit in the corner of prison! lol)

Some people think, Iran's a desert! People Iran's a modern country with very beautiful nature and lots of historical places to visit. Please take a look at the following links and see if Iran looks like what you think or not!

This is a photo of Tehran: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tehran

See how the media are fooling people? None of the things you hear on the media about Iran are true. So, please don't worry about us, cos we're really free.Ok?

I thought it's better to clarify some political matters as well:

Some of the Americans I chatted with (not all of them), said here in the U.S it's said that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuck them!! Now, this is so odd, their media is good at putting comments, it's easy to show a video or an image of our president or leader on the T.V screen or on the internet and say he says this, he says that.....

First of all you should know that Iranians don't hate anyone, if our government complains about some injustice that's now going on in the world, it's not bad.Is it? Nor do we hate Jews, nor do we hate Americans. They're both nice people. If they're media is fooling them, it's not their fault. If I were in thier shoes, I would hate Iran too regarding all the terrible lies they keep hearing about it nearly everyday.Who says we want to force the others to convert to Islam?Have you ever found a Muslem that knocks at your door and asks you to do so?Who says we call Americans athiests? That's so funny, Christians and Jews are both God believers. We've never disrespected them.I wonder why the media like putting words in our mouth and raising hatred. In Iran, religion would be the least important thing, it means that where you come from and what you're religion is, are not important for us at all.And I wonder why some Muslim countries think there's a problem between Shittes and Sunnies, it doesn't make sence in Iran.

I wonder Iran is a threat to whom? How is it possible for Iran to nuke somewhere while it doesn't have any nukes?!!!(The media have never been intelligent liars).Has Iran ever attacked anywhere?Wasn't that Iraq that attacked us with support from you-khow-who?

Some of them say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! But have they told you the rest of it and that why he's said this at all? If you know a little literature, you know that it's a passive sentence. He's never said that IRAN wants to wipe Israel off the map! Iran is ready to defend itself, but it's not an offensive country and we've got a lot of defensive weapons not offensive ones, while most countries have nukes and are clearly threatening Iran to nuke us! Good isn't it? Some say he's said: Holocaust is a myth! Ok, he's said this, but is saying it a crime? If 6000 Jews were killed, that's so terrible, but those 300000 Shitte Moslems who were killed by Seddam aren't important at all! (and who gave him those biological weapons? You well know that) When Fox News simply says: America and Israel can destroy and kill all Iran's 690000000 population (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News web-site), it's no problem.But...

Why don't people like hearing the truth? Are the media's lies more interesting than the truth?
Thank u for writing that, very informative. I also believe that the media r fear mongers and will say whatever they want in order to scare ppl. Why not write about the good in the world, everytime u turn on the TV all u see is all the bad. I guess better ratings eh? Wouldnt it be nice if we were all able to live in peace, let ppl be who they r, believe in the Gods they believed in. As long as ppl see everyone equally there would be no worries, oh what a nice dream. Maybe one day, not in my lifetime but perhaps in my childrens.. peace...
Reply:Tell you what, no body had a gust to tell him to get off from his position Report It

Reply:You write awfully good English coming from Iran, so I kinda doubt your post is authentic.

I saw a documentary on CNN about Iran, and what you describe about it seems very similar to what I saw. I've heard that behind closed doors, Iran isn't very different than the US in terms of its people. It is a bit of a shame though, the laws and customs that seem to strangle your society in public (like simply not being able to kiss someone)?

I know there is no conclusive proof that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons, although it is pursuing nuclear technology, and figure of speech or otherwise, saying that Israel deserves to be wiped off the map is a cause for alarm. If someone said Iran should be wiped off the map, would that not alarm you or your government? And denying the holocaust is wrong. Just about as wrong as seizing Middle Eastern lands for the Jews (aka Israel). Two wrongs do not make a right, although I can understand the Middle East being bitter about Israel. Frankly in terms of its creation, I am too.
Reply:some people are more in to hearing the lies... while other thinks they can handle the truth....
Reply:it is easier to blindly believe than research and think. i don't mind the extra work.
Reply:I really like your question. Yes, many in our country hear only part of a story and formulate opinions on a limited understanding. Actually, your question answers the question many will ask here in America - "Why are we in Iraq when Iran is more of a threat?" Informed citizens understand that Iran is headed by a man who is desparate to keep power has lower popularity in his country than Bush does in ours. The culture is hungry for the ideals of freedom and civil rights in your country, so Ahmeddinejad then says things to divert your displeasure and create more national unity. He gets a lot of attention from our western media and makes makes him appear a more prominant figure. America has been attacked by a philosophy, not a nation, and has moved the battle off our shores to a country that had proven a bigger nusiance. whether that be the right or wrong move is the cause of much debate here. However, we have not taken the battle to your country and the intelligent citizen understands why - much of what you pointed out in your question.

As to the difference in your culture from ours, I think you will find some brash people who make it seem otherwise, but most of us feel that other cultures are to be respected as long as they don't seek to destroy western culture. this includes the island of western culture in your part of the world known as Israel. Likewise said, many of my countrymen have different opinions on our allegiance to the Israelis, the Holocaust, the level of nuclear threat posed by your country, and many don't realize just how modern Iran is and how you are a unique people from the Arab people. I can't say that you have convinced me that your leader is void of malice towards us, but you bring forth some great information.
Reply:The problem is not that people don't want to hear the truth. The problem is that not many people know how to speak the truth anymore. Too many people lie so much that they don't know what the truth is. Media would rather lie because it gets them better ratings and more viewers. Government would rather lie because it meets their agenda more conviently then truth.
Reply:We don't all believe what the media says.
Reply:Well, your article was interesting. How do you feel about Christianity and Judaism? Your society, and with your Government's support, strap explosives to your bodies and kill. Not only yourselves, but innocent people. Your government supports the manufacturing and use of IE-D's in Iraq which kill Americans as well as innocents.I feel you are brainwashed into believing in everything you gov. tells you.As far as kissing in public, it is great. Not all Americans,Christians, and Jews are bad.If only all religions could coexist. I believe it will all come to Cristians vs Muslims. God help us all.Remember the crusades?
Reply:Most american's aren't educated on issues of the middle east. They are spoon fed propaganda from thier corporate/jew owned media and they'll gladly give up freedom for security from terror.lmao
Reply:I respect other peoples cultures.every country has the right to there own culture.ways and beliefs and the right to have nuclear power and weapons.your leaders have right to say whatever they wont to as long as they don't attack others.this should be a free world where people can say what they wont to.they will soon bomb your country because the Israelis wont to.they have nukes and don't wont Y'all to have them.which is your right to have them if you wont .The feds are controlled by the Jews to an extent.its a shame.the American sheeple just go along with the propaganda.your country is doomed sorry. If I could do something I would. but you will be attacked soon. The only thing I can do is pray for Y'all.I dont think you people will take it and will declare war on the jews and the U.S after we or the jews bomb you.and I wont blame you.I respect Y'all for standing up for your rights. But your country will be bombed into submission.and by the way if he doesnt believe there was a mass killing of jews. hey. I believe in flying saucers. and some people disagree with me. so what?everyone has a right to there oppinion.I would fight to the death for the right for someone to disagree with me.Thats silly to get upset because some one person doesnt believe something.a country shouldnt be attcked just because maybe they might someday have a weapon.that they say there not deviseing.and makeing.to me thats crazy. as it was crazy to attack Iraq because he might. maybe. could have. had some weapons.countrys have weapons. every country has weapons.we have weapons. Israel has nukes. whats the big deal. if you attack we attack back.thats how its supposed to be done.Peace. I wish you the best.
Reply:The truth according to whom? You don't really think we're going to read all that, do you?
Reply:they don't want to hear the truth
Reply:Some people here in the USA aren't smart enough to do the research for themselves, therefore they depend on the Media to inform them about current events. It's sad that the world can not get along, but in my 51 years I haven't seen peace yet and I probably never will. There are those who care about other people in other countries, but now, it's just one big mess and US citizens are very judge mental of others that are different from them. Not everyone is an ***, but we are getting closer than ever before.
Reply:I don't want to hear the truth, nor do I want to read all of that.

BUT.. I went and read it anyway, and i'd say that you are probably not Iranian... You are probably some half american/half "something-else" living somewhere in Southern California, young of age, and on here to see how many responses you can get by pretending that you're Iranian and lying about their culture.

Get a life.
Reply:I don't want to hear the truth, nor do I want to read all of that.

They'll never have applied to be on Jim'll Fix It or Why Don't You?

They can't believe a black and white television ever existed. And they will never understand how we could leave the house without a mobile phone.

Now let's check if we're getting old...

1. You understand what was written above and you smile.

2. You need to sleep more, usually until the afternoon, after a night out.

3. Your friends are getting married/already married.

4. You are always surprised to see small children playing comfortably with computers.

5. When you see teenagers with mobile phones, you shake your head.

6. You remember watching Dirty Den in EastEnders the first time around.

7. You meet your friends from time to time, talking about the Good Old

8. Having read this mail, you are thinking of forwarding it to some other friends because you think they will like it too...

Yes, you're getting old!!

Tammy.....I was born in the 50's and when i was about 10 or older we went out to play and only came home at meal times. it was all innocent play and our parents had no worries about us causing trouble for anyone.

Pity is wasn't like that nowadays

Stephen D.....of course i do...well someone who doesn't find reading boring. Like yourself it seems

Kaygee.......oh i know....bring back those days. Kids nowadays haven't got a clue what they have missed.

Mrs Shady....now you've brought back the memories of my kids when they were growing up. My house had three bedrooms with various 80's music coming out of them all.

Adam.....My God.....Stop feeling so sorry for yourself. with an attitude like that no wonder you're a misery. Don't you think everyone hasn't seen bad times in their life?

Retox.....life was great then wasn't it. I remeber my father hiring a neighbours long vehicle open lorry to move house. i was 11 and sat on the back of the lorry with my legs dangling down waving to the cars behing me. great memories

Seven....i know, what a life that was. at 10 i fell out of a tree into a bed of nettles. at 12 my mum found me on the roof of the house. she about had a fit, but the next day i was on the roof of the coal house and fell through it. her face when i walked in black as a coal miner was a picture.

Kamal Karna Roy (also known as Kamal K.K. Roy and Rev. Dr. Joseph Geronimo, Jr.) is a prolific pro se litigant who, since at least the early 1990s, has filed numerous lawsuits throughout the United States and its territories under the names Roy and Joseph Geronimo, Jr., as well as under the names of entities that he is affiliated with, including International Siva Consciousness %26amp; World Religions, Reforms International, Handicap Interests International, and Jungle Democracy.[1] Roy's lawsuits are often brought against multiple defendants, and feature long, unconventional complaints. Roy has filed lawsuits against God, U.S. Presidents, Supreme Court Justices, fast food restaurants, foreign leaders.[2], and Wikipedia [3] [4].

Roy's lawsuits have addressed, among many other things, actions taken by President George W. Bush, overcharging by telecommunication companies, the appointment of Chief Justice John Roberts to the Supreme Court, and "failure of democratic societies and God's role therein."[5] In 2006 Judge Michael W. McConnell of The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit described a typical Roy complaint:

Roy, a/k/a Joseph Geronimo, Jr. filed a 115-page complaint, a 144-page amended complaint, and a 40-page second amended complaint against over sixty defendants, including among many others President Bush, God as U.S.-based divine benefactor, several government agencies, The New York Times, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. In addition to pages of rambling discourse, the complaint contains numerous illegible handwritten remarks.[6]

The Tenth Circuit went on to affirm the district court's dismissal of the complaint holding that no discernible claim was apparent from the complaint. Judge McConnell also humorously noted that the court "strongly suspect[ed] at least one defendant was not properly served."[7]

Most, if not all, of Roy's complaints have been dismissed. A 2006 United States District Court for the District of Delaware opinion, Jungle Democracy v. U.S., describes Roy as "no stranger to litigation" and provides a partial list of Roy lawsuits that have been dismissed since 1991.[8]

Despite Roy's lack of success in the courts, his lawsuits have been discussed in law school classrooms and in law related blogs.[9] [10]

In April 2007 Roy filed a civil rights action against, among others, CBS Broadcasting Inc., MSNBC, the United States Government, and controversial radio shock jock Don Imus.[11]

In October 2007, Roy filed a suit in the US District Court, Middle District of Florida, against "Wikipedia Encyclopedia, USA, All News Media, All State Board of Elections, Federal Election Commission". See Dkt. 3:07-cv-00994-VMC-HTS.

McConnell of The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit described a typical Roy complaint: Roy, a/k/a Joseph Geronimo, Jr. filed a 115-page complaint, a 144-page amended complaint, and a 40-page second amended complaint against over sixty defendants, including among many others President Bush, God as U.S.-based divine benefactor, several government agencies, The New York Times, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. In addition to pages of rambling discourse, the complaint contains numerous illegible handwritten remarks.[6] The Tenth Circuit went on to affirm the district court's dismissal of the complaint holding that no discernible claim was apparent from the complaint. Judge McConnell also humorously noted that the court "strongly suspect[ed] at least one defendant was not properly served."[7] Most, if not all, of Roy's complaints have been dismissed. A 2006 United States District Court for the District of Delaware opinion, Jungle Democracy v. U.S., describes Roy as "no stranger to litigation" and provides a partial list of Roy lawsuits that have been dismissed since 1991. [8] Despite Roy's lack of success in the courts, his lawsuits have been discussed in law school classrooms and in law related blogs.[9] [10] In April 2007 Roy filed a civil rights action against, among others, CBS Broadcasting Inc., MSNBC, the United States Government, and controversial radio shock jock Don Imus.[11] In October, 2007, Roy filed a suit in the US District Court, Middle District of Florida, against "Wikipedia Encyclopedia, USA, All News Media, All State Board of Elections, Federal Election Commission". See jungle democratic oppressions on we the people?
hmmm....let me think on this one

insoles

Do you think if people get to know each other all conflics would go away?(If so, take your time to read this)?

I think reading this in 5-7 minutes would be better than listening to the news in a lifteime.Plz don't think I'm a very old person.Just 18.A university student studying English who just cannot sit back and hope.

My question is: what percentage of what I say is acceptable to you?

This article has three parts: 1.Cultural and general info 2.music and 3.political, so plz read it from the top to the bottom.

Hi.I'm Iranian and I live in Iran. When I chat with people from other countries, I understand that they have totally wrong ideas about Iran.I just wrote this article to correct you.

The first thing they accuse our government of, is that they don't let you be free.Actually, Iranians would be some of the most liberal people in the world (liberal meaning not obeying laws that they don't like).Thousands of millions of strict rules in other countries, don't even exist in Iran. Also, you should understand that what may seem so normal to you, may be a nightmare for us and vise versa. That's why you don't understand a few of Iran's laws.In Iran every single house has a sattelite. Sattelite channels had a serious influence on people, they wear very fashionable clothes.Maybe it's a kind of immitation, but still it's got an unique Iranian style. You'll see lots of beauty qeens on the streets that are just like models advertising fashionable clothes! Most part of their hair is out and they put on to much make up, also wearing scarves is a part of our culture.Iran is one of the super-consumers of cosmics (which is bad for our economy)! People do whatever they wish to and some of the things they do, don't fit our culture at all, however it's normal in Iran. You'll be surprised seeing the difference between what you imagined before and how the real Iran is! It's wonderful.Everything's so great if you don't take unemployment and air pollution into account. Many things have changed so far.I can't even compare Iran with 5 years ago, let alone comparing it with 30 years ago!!!! After all, nearly 65-70% of Iran's population is considered the new generation (The youth) and they've transformed everything.

Some people think women don't have any rights in Iran! Women are overtaking Iran. They're treated very well. They're the winners in most cases: They get into the best universities cos they're so clever. They get the best jobs cos they can do jobs much better than men. They've got rights that have made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women will have the right to ask them a great amount of money which most husbands cannot afford, so they'll be imprisoned. The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums and that's just because IN IRAN, such places are usually full of cheeky guys who would cheek girls.I don't think girls would go there, even if they're allowed to do so.

Another funny thing: Your footage about stoning the women who have committed adultery.Have you ever asked yourself they relate to how many years ago?Just for your information, those are from Afghanistan which was once ruled by those freaks (Taliban).I find it difficult to make you understand that Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are SEPERATE COUNTRIES! and that we're Persian and some Turkish not Arab! And I find it even more difficult to make you understand that Iran is a normal country like any other countries in the world. There's nothing mysterious about it!(The media is very good at making scary titles: BEHIND THE CLOSED DOORS!!! IRAN UNDERCOVER!!! This would be enough to scare people away! Iranians are much more educated, intelligent and open-minded than what you think!!! I'm sure you don't know that there are lots and lots of Iranian geniouses and scientists that are all under 25.You don't hear about their discoveries and inventions on TV. A small example is this 17 year old boy who's invented 72 amazing inventions. You don't know that Iranian students and sportsmen are winning gold and silver medals in different compotitions in the world all the time such as robotics, biology, maths, physics, sports, anything! Why don't the media talk about them?Did you know that the countries having the highest number of scientists in the world are in this order? 1-India 2-Korea 3-Iran

A few weeks ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine and now it's signing treaties with other countries to export it.I digged the news on the internet, but there was no single sign of that. What I found instead? "President Bush CLAIMS that bomb parts are imported from Iran into Iraq!" The media are injustice. They'd put CLAIMS on the headlines, but they would never talk about facts! Some interesting facts:

Iran is the pionier in medicine and genetics and Iranian surgens have found lots of new methods for treating spinal defects and many other diseases (mainly the treatment for different types of cancer) and the the best brain and heart surgens are Iranian surgens. The head of Mars Mission in NASA is Iranian. One of the best designer of sports cars working in Germany is Iranian. Some of the best 3D animators are Iranian.Iran is one of the best countries in counter-engineering.Holds the second place in building dams. The 4th highest tower (Milad tower) in the world is in Tehran (which you can visit in the second link). The champion weight-lifter is Iranian. The woman, and a song by one of the pop singers who/which won the nobel peace prize are Iranians. And as you all know, Iranian girls are famous for being terrific.Persian rug and Persian literature, many Persian poets and scientists that are so famous.Persian culture is now westernised and only a little has survived! According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world for foriegners with Dollars of course not for us! (Cos our rate is different: one Dollar=about 950 Tomans!) Who do you think is building Dubi?Arabs? No my friends, Iranian architectures, engineers and traders funding them, cos they don't think building the same things in Iran would be beneficial for them, Since the media scare tourists away from Iran. There are many other things. And also, Iran is a very independant country. It has nearly all the developed industries and technologies and doesn't need other countries to survive! That's why the unfair U.N sanctions don't bother us! The list is endless.

Some charactristics of Iranians would be: Proud, greedy, hard-working, intelligent, ambitious, not realistic, not so religious, not so generous, not punctual, impatient, well-dressed, formal, well-educated, warm and friendly and hospitable.

Some people think, Iran's a desert! Iran's a modern country with very beautiful nature and lots of historical places to visit. Please take a look at the following links and see if Iran looks like what you think or not! (Surely it doesn't!)

Some people think music is forbidden in Iran.Did you know that Iranian pop music has won the prize in France in 2005? It's now 2007 and people still think we are uneducated people living in deserts, riding camels and carrying around guns!!!!

See how the media are fooling people? None of the things you hear on the media about Iran are true.If you think I've been admiring Iran too much, that's because you'd do the same thing if you were looked down nearly everyday for some false reasons.

I think it's better to clarify some political issues as well:

Some of the Americans I chatted with, said in the U.S it's said that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuke them!! The media are good at putting comments. It's easy to show a video or an image of our president or leader on the T.V screen or on the internet and say he says this, he says that.....I really don't get the point why our politicians defame themselves by talking about things that have got nothing to do with us.For example does verbal defence of Palestinians cause them to have a better life? The thing is that they occasionally make some statements that the media would misuse it agaisnt Iran. like picking up some specific sensitive phrases from among a long speech (without reffering to the main points and reasons for that speech) and putting so many bad comments on that.No sane person would take it serious.

First of all, Iranians don't hate anyone. If our government complains about some injustice going on in the world, it's not bad.Is it? We hate neither Jews nor Americans. They're both nice people. If their media are fooling them, it's not their fault. If I were in their shoes, I would hate Iran too regarding all the terrible lies they keep hearing about it nearly everyday.Although ordinary Iranians don't care about world affairs, I've got to say that for us Israel is not equal to Jews! Israel is a govt.Jews are faithful people! A few of them live here in our neighbourhood and they live just like the rest of Iranians. No difference. And two of Iran's parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force the others to convert to Islam?Have you ever found a Muslem knocking at your door asking you to do so?That's so funny. Christians and Jews are both God believers and respectful to us.I wonder why the media like putting words in our mouth and raising hatred. In Iran, religion would be the least important thing. It means that where you come from and what your religion is, are not important to us at all.And I wonder why some Muslem countries think there's a problem between Shiites and Sunnies. It doesn't make sense in Iran.

I wonder Iran is a threat to whom? Which logical rule admits that it's logical to say a country is guilty because we THINK / PREDICT that she's going to do something wrong?!!!! Has Iran ever attacked any countries? There's no proof on that. That's even what nuclear agency says.Only Iran's oppositions are pulling Iran's leg. What we're doing is legal. What they ask us to do (ignoring our international rights) is illegal and nonsense.Iran is a peaceful country. Why? It's the regional super-power and if she wanted, she could invade the countries in our neibourhood just as what Seddam did to our country, but as you see Iran has peaceful relationships with all of them.It could be a good example to some countries that just follow their interests. What is interesting is that the countries which accuse Iran of different things have been, and are still accused of the same things!!! This could be a modern and innovative form of philosophy and logic!

Some say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! But have they told you the rest of his speech and that why he's said this at all? If you know a little literature, you know that it's a passive sentence. He's never said that IRAN wants to wipe Israel off the map! And he wasn't talking about destroying Israel. He was talking about relocating Israel, so that they could live seperate from Palestinians and they both could live in peace. They've only told you this phrase not the rest of it and it's mistranslated deliberitely.Iran's always defended itself, but it's not an offensive country. While some countries which have nukes are clearly threatening Iran to nuke her! Good, isn't it?

Some say he's said: Holocaust is a myth! again this is a single phrase from among a long speech and there are totally logical reasons for saying so.If 6000000 Jews were killed, that's so terrible, but those 300000 Shiite Moslems killed by Saddam aren't important at all! Over 650000 Iraqi people are killed and it's not important! When Fox News simply says: America and Israel are capable of destroying and killing all Iran's 69000000 population within two weeks, it's OK and no one says they're threatening other countries to nuke them (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News website) Millions of people killed in Afghanistan, Hiroshima %26amp; Nakazaki and vietnam war are not considered human beings at all! Now I think you'd get the point why he's IRONICALLY said it's a mith. Moreover, don't you believe in freedom of speech/mind?

Obviousely, some countries are using Iran as a victim to put the blame (their own faults) on Iran. And which country is better than Iran to be a victim? They've made the whole world believe that Iran isn't a peaceful country and represent false image of Iranians by making insulting movies like "300" .

I know Americans don't like these either, but what can they do?They can't control what the media says.I hope someday the media would end all this instead of playing a negative role in the world.

This part is just for Americans who would still argue over unimportant things: Those of you who say why Iran says "Death to America": 1.America means the U.S govt not the people 2.The new generation don't say such things and if some of them occasionally march in the streets that's because some of the stupid guys enjoy making noise and they mainly go out there to meet their girlfreids/boyfriends! Strange.Isn't it? 3.Such mottos are not just said in Iran and as you know whatever you hear is a response to the U.S govt's terrible actions which has made life for many people hell (You wouldn't deny that attacking countries is a mistake.right?) 5.The U.S govt helped Seddam to attack Iran and I hope you know which country gave Iraq biological weapons which killed lots of Iranians 6.America hit an Iranian airplane over the Persian Gulf and killed 200 passengers for no reason 7.It's always botherng Iran by sanctions, displaying false image of Iran and Iranians, scares tourists away from Iran and is always harmful to our economy, development and credit 8.It's always despised the Iranians who travel to the U.S at their arrival (even ordinary ones, university students, sportsmen, scientists etc)

To those who are upset with American hostages taken for 444 days: 1.It's related to so many years ago and don't forget that when there's a revolution, there'd be cheos and people may do things that they should not, moreover they're all alive and healthy.Aren't they? 2.The U.S has arrested Iranian diplomats in Iraq and keeps denying that they're diplomats. Now you decide who has the right to be upset with whom. It's exceeded the level of tit for tat.

It's better for both countries to forget about the past conflicts and to have peaceful relations. The two govts are like 10 year old children jumping at each other verbally, but we as the people of these countries MUST NOT have any conflics. You know something? All govts are hateful.I just said the above things because it sounds unfair when some Americans talk about 444 hostage taking and I keep being silent. So sorry for that.I hope you agree on this one! Now, what do you think?I can't wait to see both nations in peace. It'd be marvelous!

Thanks.

Do you think if people get to know each other all conflics would go away?(If so, take your time to read this)?
I for one would love to see peace.

I would love to see America stop spending our money on war.

We unfortunately have elected(?) an IDIOT for a president, TWICE!

Yes there is no doubt that the media distorts the truth. There is only one reason for the media to lie to us. That is because it brings more power to those controlling the media. But then it's the same for both side of the story. The eastern media distorts the truth also. We all need to start treating the media like the story tellers they are.

No matter where you go in the world, people are basically the same. We have family that we love. We have friends that we enjoy spending time with. I have friends that don't like Iran, not that they know anything about Iran, just that they believe what they hear on TV. I'm sure the there are Iranians who have strong negative opinions about the US even if they don't know much about us. If Iran didn't have beautiful places and wonderful things then why would anybody stay? An Assyrian guy that I work with grew up in Teheran and still misses it. I probably will never see it, as a young man I was able to travel around the world (thanks to the U.S. Navy) and what I found is that I love my home.

As for myself, I can honestly say I don't have any grudge against the Persian people, I wish them all the very best that life can bring them. I don't trust the Iranian government, but then I don't trust the American government either. Government's main function is always to get more power for the government.

As I said I think Bush is a fool. He was told by experts, who live in, work in, and study the near eastern culture, NOT to do what he did in Iraq. Yes Saddam was a tyrant. Yes he was the CIA's bad boy, and the American government helped him to do many of the horrible things that he did. The US has made many many mistakes in foreign policy, and should probably stay home for a while till we learn how to play well with others.

For anybody who would say I'm not a patriot, try burning the stars and stripes near me and see how that works. I love my country and the ideals that it was founded on, and for those I have put my life on the line and would do so again, but we as Americans must see our own mistakes before we can fix them or at least stop repeating them.

People's Republic of China?

CHINA

PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

Head of state: Hu Jintao

Head of government: Wen Jiabao

Death penalty: retentionist

International Criminal Court: not ratified

An increased number of lawyers and journalists were harassed, detained, and jailed. Thousands of people who pursued their faith outside officially sanctioned churches were subjected to harassment and many to detention and imprisonment. Thousands of people were sentenced to death or executed. Migrants from rural areas were deprived of basic rights. Severe repression of Uighurs in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region continued, and freedom of expression and religion continued to be severely restricted in Tibet and among Tibetans elsewhere.

International community

Before China's election to the new UN Human Rights Council, it made a number of human rights-related pledges, including ratification of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and active co-operation with the UN on human rights. Chinese companies continued to export arms to countries where they were likely to be used for serious human rights abuses, including Sudan and Myanmar.

Human rights defenders

The government crackdown on lawyers and housing rights activists intensified. Many human rights defenders were subjected to lengthy periods of arbitrary detention without charge, as well as harassment by the police or by local gangs apparently condoned by the police. Many lived under near constant surveillance or house arrest and members of their families were increasingly targeted. New regulations restricted the ability of lawyers to represent groups of victims and to participate in collective petitions.

• Gao Zhisheng, an outspoken human rights lawyer, had his law practice suspended in November 2005. He was detained in August 2006 and remained in incommunicado detention at an unknown location until his trial in December 2006. In October he was formally arrested on charges of "inciting subversion", and in December he was sentenced to three years' imprisonment, suspended for five years.

Journalists and Internet users

The government's crackdown on journalists, writers, and Internet users intensified. Numerous popular newspapers and journals were shut down. Hundreds of international websites remained blocked and thousands of Chinese websites were shut down. Dozens of journalists were detained for reporting on sensitive issues.

The government strengthened systems for blocking, filtering, and monitoring the flow of information. New regulations came into effect requiring foreign news agencies to gain approval from China's official news agency in order to publish any news. Many foreign journalists were detained for short periods.

Discrimination against rural migrants

Rural migrant workers in China's cities faced wide-ranging discrimination. Despite official commitment to resolve the problem, millions of migrant workers were still owed back pay. The vast majority were excluded from urban health insurance schemes and could not afford private health care. Access to public education remained tenuous for millions of migrant children, in contrast to other urban residents. An estimated

20 million migrant children were unable to live with their parents in the cities in part because of insecure schooling.

• Beijing municipal authorities closed dozens of migrant schools in September, affecting thousands of migrant children. While authorities claimed to have targeted unregistered and sub-standard schools, onerous demands made it nearly impossible for migrant schools to be registered. Some school staff believed the closures were aimed at reducing the migrant population in Beijing ahead of the 2008 Olympics.

Violence and discrimination against women

Violence and discrimination against women remained severe. The disadvantaged economic and social status of women and girls was evident in employment, health care and education. Women were laid off in larger numbers than men from failing state enterprises. Women accounted for 60 per cent of rural labourers and had fewer non-agricultural opportunities than men. The absence of gender-sensitive anti-HIV/AIDS policies contributed to a significant rise in female HIV/AIDS cases in 2006. Only 43 per cent of girls in rural areas completed education above lower middle school, compared with 61 per cent of boys.

Despite strengthened laws and government efforts to combat human trafficking, it remained pervasive, with an estimated 90 per cent of cases being women and children trafficked for sexual exploitation.

• Chen Guangcheng, a blind, self-trained lawyer, was sentenced in August to a prison term of four years and three months on charges of "damaging public property and gathering people to stop traffic". He had been arbitrarily confined to his home since September 2005 in connection with his advocacy on behalf of women undergoing forced abortions in Shandong Province. On appeal, the guilty verdict was overturned and the case sent back to the lower court for retrial, but the lower court upheld the original sentence.

Repression of spiritual and religious groups

The government continued to crack down on religious observance outside officially sanctioned channels. Thousands of members of underground protestant "house churches" and unofficial Catholic churches were detained, many of whom were ill-treated or tortured in detention. Members of the Falun Gong spiritual movement were detained and assigned to administrative detention for their beliefs, and continued to be at high risk of torture or ill-treatment.

• Bu Dongwei, a Falun Gong practitioner, was assigned to two and a half years' Re-education through Labour in June for "activities relating to a banned organization" after police discovered Falun Gong literature at his home. He had been working for a US aid organization when he was detained.

• Pastor Zhang Rongliang, an underground church leader who had been repeatedly detained and imprisoned since 1976, was sentenced in June to seven and a half years' imprisonment on charges of illegally crossing the border and fraudulently obtaining a passport.

Death penalty

The death penalty continued to be used extensively to punish around 68 crimes, including economic and non-violent crimes. Based on public reports, AI estimated that at least 1,010 people were executed and 2,790 sentenced to death during 2006, although the true figures were believed to be much higher.

The National People's Congress passed a law reinstating a final review of all death penalty cases by the Supreme People's Court from 2007. Commentators believed this would lead to a reduction in miscarriages of justice and use of the death penalty.

Executions by lethal injection rose, facilitating the extraction of organs from executed prisoners, a lucrative business. In November a deputy minister announced that the majority of transplanted organs came from executed prisoners. In July new regulations banned the buying and selling of organs and required written consent from donors for organ removal.

• Xu Shuangfu, the leader of an unofficial Protestant group called "Three Grades of Servants", was executed along with 11 others in November after being convicted of murdering 20 members of another group, "Eastern Lightning", in 2003-4. Xu Shuangfu reportedly claimed that he had confessed under torture during police interrogation and that the torture had included beatings with heavy chains and sticks, electric shocks to the toes, fingers and genitals and forced injection of hot pepper, gasoline and ginger into the nose. Both the first instance and appeal courts reportedly refused to allow his lawyers to introduce these allegations as evidence in his defence.

Torture, arbitrary detention and unfair trials

Torture and ill-treatment remained widespread. Common methods included kicking, beating, electric shocks, suspension by the arms, shackling in painful positions, cigarette burns, and sleep and food deprivation. In November a senior official admitted that at least 30 wrongful convictions handed down each year resulted from the use of torture, with the true number likely being higher. There was no progress in efforts to reform the Re-education through Labour system of administrative detention without charge or trial. Hundreds of thousands of people were believed to be held in Re-education through Labour facilities across China and were at risk of torture and ill-treatment. In May 2006, the Beijing city authorities announced their intention to extend their use of Re-education through Labour as a way to control "offending behaviour" and to clean up the city's image ahead of the Olympics.

• Ye Guozhu was sentenced to four years' imprisonment in 2004 for his opposition to forced evictions in Beijing associated with construction for the Olympic games. It emerged during 2006 that Ye had been tortured while in detention. He was reportedly suspended from the ceiling by the arms and beaten repeatedly by police in Dongcheng district detention centre, Beijing, and also reportedly tortured in another prison in the second half of 2005.

Uighurs in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region

Government authorities in Xinjiang continued to severely repress the Uighur community and to deny their human rights, including freedom of religion and access to education. An increased number of Uighurs were extradited to China from Central Asia, reflecting growing pressure by China on governments in the region. Seventeen Uighurs remained in detention in Guantánamo Bay.

• The family of exiled former prisoner of conscience Rebiya Kadeer continued to be targeted by the Chinese authorities. On 26 November her son Ablikim Abdiriyim, detained in Xinjiang awaiting trial on charges of "subversion" and tax evasion, was seen being carried out of Tianshan District Detention

Centre, apparently in need of medical attention. On 27 November her sons Alim and Kahar Abdiriyim were fined heavily and Alim sentenced to seven years' imprisonment on charges of tax evasion.

• Husein Celil, a Canadian citizen who fled China in the 1990s as a refugee, was arrested in Uzbekistan and extradited to China in June. He was reportedly accused of "terrorism" and denied access to family or consular representatives.

Tibetans

Tibetans in the Tibet Autonomous Region and other areas experienced severe restrictions on their rights to freedom of religious belief, expression and association, and discrimination in employment. Many were detained or imprisoned for observing their religion or expressing opinions, including Tibetan Buddhist monks and nuns. Excessive use of force against Tibetans seeking to flee repression in Tibet continued. In September witnesses saw Chinese border patrol guards shooting at a group of Tibetans attempting to reach Nepal. At least one child was confirmed killed.

• Woeser, a leading Tibetan intellectual, had her weblog shut down several times after she raised questions about China's role in Tibet.

• Sonam Gyalpo, a former monk, was sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment in mid-2006 for "endangering state security" after the authorities found videos of the Dalai Lama and other "incriminating materials" in his house. His family learned of his trial and sentencing when they tried to visit him in detention.

North Korean refugees

Approximately 100,000 North Koreans were reportedly hiding in China. The authorities arrested and deported an estimated 150-300 each week without ever referring cases to UNHCR, the UN refugee agency. They also reportedly implemented a system of rewards for turning in North Koreans and heavy fines for supporting them. In September a new crackdown was reported on North Koreans residing illegally in China.

Abuse of North Korean women in China was widely reported, including cases of systematic rape and prostitution. North Korean women were reportedly sold as brides to Chinese men for between US$880 and US$1,890. Some women knew they were being sold into marriage but did not know how harsh conditions in China would be. Others were lured across the border by marriage brokers posing as merchants.

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

All 14 South Koreans charged with "unlawful assembly" after protesting outside World Trade Organization meetings in December 2005 were acquitted in early 2006, sparking renewed calls for an independent inquiry into the actions of the police during the protests.

The UN Human Rights Committee and the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women reviewed the human rights situation in Hong Kong in March and August respectively. Both made several recommendations for reform.

In September, the Hong Kong Court of Appeal upheld a lower court ruling that laws providing a higher age of consent for sexual relations for gay men than for heterosexuals were discriminatory. The authorities announced that they would not appeal the case further.

Asylum-seekers continued to be refused entry without adequate consideration of their claims. Others were detained for over-staying their visas or other immigration offences. Despite lobbying from human rights and social welfare groups, the authorities confirmed that there were no plans to extend the UN Refugee Convention to Hong Kong. The authorities began to offer limited welfare assistance to asylum-seekers after UNHCR ceased its funding in May, but this was reportedly insufficient to meet basic needs.

Next time you post something like this, with facts and figures, post a link so people can check it out to make sure its legit, based on current events, and not more china bashing.

When you do, then I'll check it out.

Now you supplied a link, but the great cyber wall here in China won't let me get there.

China censors China hate sites plus pornography.

Keep this in mind, the Amnisties Internationals organizations depend on donations to survive. I've often wondered just how much they embellish the facts on that alone. It behooves one to look very closely at their board of directors, what they are getting paid, what percentage goes to public education, who they interview, are they seeking the other sides arguments without predisposition, --- in short, is it tabloid journalism, or is it really true. Plus, how current is it?
